Celebrate the Chicago Guide for Freelance Editors and Win Prizes

How do you celebrate the launch of a book about creating an editing business?

If you’re me, you celebrate by offering editors further help in their editing businesses.

My book, The Chicago Guide for Freelance Editors: How to Take Care of Your Business, Your Clients, and Yourself from Start-Up to Sustainability, is out today. I can’t thank you all enough for your support and for purchasing the book. Your enthusiasm means the world to me.

To celebrate this milestone and spread the word to even more readers, I’m inviting you to participate in a fun and creative contest. Not only will you have the chance to win some fantastic prizes, but you’ll also get to connect with like-minded individuals and showcase your passion for editing.

Participate and Reap the Benefits

By joining the contest, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with a vibrant community of freelance editors, gain exposure for your own editing journey, and potentially win valuable resources to help you launch and grow your freelance editing business. What’s not to love?

How to Enter

Simply post a picture on Bluesky, Instagram, or LinkedIn featuring a copy (physical or digital) of The Chicago Guide for Freelance Editors. Include yourself, if you’d like, or just include the book in a creative setting. Make sure to tag me (@ebrenner.bsky.social on Bluesky, @ecbrenner_98 on Instagram, or Erin Brenner on LinkedIn) and use the hashtag #LaunchYourEditingBiz.

Get Creative and Stand Out

Editors are a creative bunch, so we’re including a prize for “Most Creative” entry. Here are some ideas to inspire you:

  • Show us where you’re reading the book, whether it’s in a cozy nook or a picturesque outdoor spot.
  • Create an eye-catching scene featuring the book, such as a desk with the book surrounded by red pens, style guides, and a coffee mug with a clever editing pun.
  • Photograph the book in a famous (or not-so-famous) location related to editing, publishing, or literature.
  • Showcase the book in an artistic or visually compelling way, using creative lighting, interesting angles, or incorporating elements of design and typography.
  • Incorporate a witty pun, joke, or wordplay related to editing, freelancing, or the book’s content in your post.
  • If the platform allows, create an interactive or animated photo, such as a GIF or a short video clip, showcasing the book in a creative and engaging way.
